Mohammed Zaid is 11 years old and lives in Kantheerava Nagar, Nandini Layout Ward, Bengaluru. He is challenged with Intellectual Disability and is also unable to sit and stand independently. There are 6 members in his family — father Jaffer, who works in a private company, mother Sabreen Banu, a homemaker, his grandmother, one elder brother, one younger sister, and Zaid. Out of the three children in the family, two are disabled, making daily caregiving an immense responsibility for the parents.
Five years ago, Zaid had received therapy treatment at Voice of Needy Foundation. However, following COVID, his parents were unable to continue the therapy sessions. With two disabled children at home and no support to take them for treatment every day, the family found it increasingly difficult to manage.
Voice of Needy Foundation organised an Early Identification and Assessment Program at Shankar Nagara. Zaid was identified and motivated to participate in the assessment. Based on the therapist's evaluation, regular therapy services were initiated for him suited to his specific needs and current abilities.
Today, Zaid attends regular therapy sessions at Voice of Needy Foundation. His parents have responded very positively — they are now taking initiative for their children's therapy and are hopeful for improvement and progress in Zaid's development.
